Apparently its more down to Japanese culture, not just their games. As a rule they tend to accept something as it is, especially if its fiction, whereas the "West" like to have an explanation and are less willing to let something slide

Okay you people from the West who apparently need an explanation, listen up! Every moving limb we have is on a "ball joint" or some kind of muscle that lets us move that limb. Some animals have universal ball joints, which means they can move that limb in any direction they want to. Tails' tails must be on the same ball joint so when he spins his tails fast enough, it's enough to lift him off the ground. Was that a good enough explaino? Good, I'm outta here. *leaves*

Not sure how many people know but Tails' winds up his tails then flies with them as they are reversing. I don't understand how when he rolling in a ball his tails always stay behind him
